Building Trust in Your Relationship: It's Not What You Think

More Out of Misery Into a Connected, Healthy, and Happy Relationship

*This workshop is open to both individual and couples.

When a partner does something in a relationship, it becomes something that is done to a relationship. The offended partner often says they feel betrayed by this action and wonder if they will ever be able to trust them again. Fair question!

Their fear is twofold: 1) Often the betrayal causes them to feel as though they were played for stupid, 2) the fear that if they let them back into the relationship, they will only re-offend, and that individual doesn’t want to have to go through that pain again. In session the offended partner wants help to repair the trust in hopes that this will get the relationship back on track. Sadly, pursuing the issue this way is rarely satisfactory. Trust is the result of the work of repair. It’s kind of like wanting to be fit without going to the gym! In this webinar, we will examine what the real issue is, that needs solving,'

You will learn about your template of the ideal partner and how this plays a big role in who you choose as a partner. You will learn about “connection,” and why that is such an important part of your pain but can also be healed. You will learn about the turtle and tiger dance that so many couples dance to and why that is destructive. Finally, you will learn some beginning steps towards creating a positive, intentional, and conscious relationship.
Note: Personalized therapy is best offered through a direct therapist-client session.

Meet the Workshop's Therapist:

Mark Laing, BA
Registered Psychotherapist

Focus: Individual and Marital Counselling, Affairs, Pornography, Conflict, Communication, Anger, Self-Esteem
I believe that therapy is not something you do to someone rather something you do with someone. Any one person will encounter times in their life when they feel stuck or trapped. Friends can offer some help but often the friendship itself disallows you from receiving the appropriate help, challenge and insight needed to make the appropriate changes or adjustments.

My work centers on marriages in crisis, the effects of affairs, the damage of pornography addictions, the hopelessness of mood disorders (depression, anxiety, etc.), the frustration of inappropriate anger and the paralysis caused by low self-acceptance. Equipped with an honors degree in clinical psychology and certified as a pastoral counselor, I help my clients from not only a clinical perspective but from a spiritual one as well.

Involvement with our Mood Disorder Program, author of a manual on marriage, and currently writing a book on marriage, are just some of the extracurricular activities I am involved with. Married with five children, I also have the experiential understanding that furthers my ability to help you or your marriage get back on track.
