How this Workshop Can Help

This 6-week workshop course is designed to support parents and caregivers who have children with autism. This workshop provides strategies and skills that parents and caregivers may use to enhance their child’s experience around dealing with high emotions, support children’s social development with peers and provide practical academic strategies to navigate learning challenges at home.

Week 1 will focus on: Understanding child’s unique strengths and traits. How to recognize signs from your child of needing support and emotional, relational and academic strategies at a glance.

Week 2- Intro to Emotions- This week’s content will focus on understanding and recognizing emotional needs for children with autism, how to navigate challenging emotional situations, coping strategies to ensure healthy boundaries and help children express their emotions in a healthy way.

Week 3- Strategies to Support Emotional Development- This week will focus on practical, strategies to support emotional development, including emotion identification, co-regulation techniques, visual and sensory supports, routines that promote emotional safety, and skill-building approaches to help children manage larger emotions and increase emotional awareness and regulation.

Week 4- Intro to Relationships and Social Development- This week’s content will focus on supporting children with building healthy friendships, enhance social connection and communication strategies.

Week 5- Relationships and Social Development Strategies- This week will explore concrete strategies to support friendship development, including structured play, modelling and role-play, and communication supports that help children initiate, maintain, and deepen friendships. The focus will be on fostering positive peer interactions, understanding social cues, navigating conflict and repair, and building skills for sustained, meaningful social engagement with others.

Week 6- Academics & Q & A Panel- This week’s content will focus on academic study skills, study tools and various learning style strategies for autistic children tailored to their learning needs. Parents will have an opportunity to ask questions at the end of the workshop.

This is a paid workshop open to parents or guardians of children.

What is Autism?

Many parents find themselves asking this question after a teacher, doctor, or other professional shares that their child has or may have autism, and it’s completely normal to feel uncertain or overwhelmed. Autism-Spectrum Disorder is a neurodevelopmental difference that affects how a child experiences the world, communicates, and relates to others, and rather than focusing solely on a label, it can be helpful to understand the patterns of strengths and challenges a child may show. Because every child with autism is unique, this workshop focuses on understanding individual needs and building practical strategies to help children feel safe, supported, and successful.

How it Makes You Feel as a Parent or Guardian:

• Create arguments over seemingly trivial things and feel guilty because you feel frustrated
• Feelings of wanting to do something differently but unsure of what that may look like
• Emotional intimacy and open conversations

How it Can Affect Your Family:

• Arguments over tasks not done
• Finding yourself in constant power struggles
• Feeling like you are living in chaos with your child
• Stress in your couple relationship

“Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light”
– Brené Brown
I support individuals and couples through a wide range of emotional, relational, and life-stage challenges, including anxiety, depression, relationship conflict, divorce/separation, eating-disorder–related challenges, and stress connected to work, school, or family. I also support individuals and couples in navigating postpartum and chronic illness-related challenges. My goal is to help clients move from overwhelm or uncertainty toward clarity, resilience, and meaningful change.

With a Master of Social Work from the University of British Columbia, I ground my practice in evidence-based modalities, including CBT, DBT, somatic approaches, and the Gottman Method. I integrate these tools in a trauma-informed, culturally safe framework that recognizes the impact of past experiences on present patterns while honouring each person’s strengths, identity, and lived context.

I work collaboratively with clients to build emotional insight, strengthen communication, and develop coping strategies that support long-term well-being. Whether working with individuals or couples, I strive to create a space that is safe, non-judgmental, and empowering- where clients feel understood, supported, and capable of growth.
